This week at Skills Matter: 10th – 14th February 2014

Here’s what’s coming up at Skills Matter this week!

Monday:

To start the week, the ever popular London Ruby User Group will be joining us, this time with an array of lightning talks to fill the evening. Expect an evening packed with 9 short 20 minute talks on all things Ruby & Rails. Check out the schedule here.

Jimmy Bogard will be taking a look at how Octopus enables continuous delivery, what it offers over standard tooling and how it can make your ops team love you again (definitely something we could all benefit from!). Jimmy is a member of the ASPInsiders group, the C# Insiders group, and received the “Microsoft Most Valuable Professional” (MVP) award for ASP.NET in 2009-2012 – as well as the creator and lead developer of the popular OSS library AutoMapper.

Tuesday:

Join Limited WIP for their first meetup of the year. With a theme of ‘Agile Product Planning’ – the evening will be filled with the latest patterns by agile practitioners for the introduction of agility to organisations.

Wednesday:

London Android is here! Steve Plank will be presenting how to access the Cloud through your Android App and Mandy Waite will be discussing how to build mobile backends in the Cloud. Your heads will truly be in the clouds with this one!

Thursday:

The ever popular Functional guys are back. This time armed with Tomas Petricek who will be demonstrating Deedle by analyzing time series financial data from historical Yahoo stock prices, then try to understand the US government spending with data from Freebase and WorldBank and finally a quick exploration of the Titanic survivals data set.
